The word order and sentence structure of the early Greek manuscripts are followed more in this version than in most others... From the Publishers: "Our research efforts are centered upon the many issues involved in discovering the meaning of the original Scripture declarations themselves. Then we seek to determine how we may best translate these same Scriptures, endeavoring to do so objectively, accurately, and consistently. what can I say, this book is the next best thing if, like me, you are unable to read ancient greek. this book puts a very precice translation fo the new testament at your fingertips, easily allowing you to see what words are actually translated from greek and what words are simlpy added to make the english translation readable. I highly reccomend this to anyone who has interest in the New Testament.

Very good literal translation from what I have read so far

Very good literal translation from what I have read so far! It clarifies a lot of difficult passages by maintaining original word order and verb tenses :) Its accurate translation of Aion and aionios is a pleasure to see, and avoids some confusing doctrine which arises from their loose translation. It is slightly bizarre sounding to someone who is very accustomed to a popular translation's word usage. An example is the translation of Gospel as Evangel etc. Overall it is solid, but I look forward to studying from the Rotherham's Emphasized Bible soon also!

A book that ends in the middle. Where's the rest of it?

The only reason this gets four stars is because it supposedly is the truth behind area 51 and what they've been doing for the last 70 years. If it's true, it's completely mind-boggling. But if not, the characters are pretty one-dimensional (of course, in real life there are LOTS of one-dimensional characters!).

The biggest drawback of the book is that it only tells a part of the story. It 'ends' in the freaking middle of it! And of course, Book 2 is non-existent. SMH. What's the point of selling a Part 1, if 10 years later there is no Part II??

A must-have reference for writers, students, and users of English

I was looking for an excellent thesaurus for my personal use as well as a family reference. After reading reviews of numerous books in this category, I settled upon Roget's Thesaurus and am glad I did as this is a well-organized thesaurus that deviates from many others in the category in that instead of following an alphabetical listing of words, it groups words under categories, which proves to be practical as it avoids unnecessary repetitions.

This seventh edition (the most recently updated version) contains 464,000 words and phrases which have been organized under categories according to their respective meanings. There is also a comprehensive index for ease of reference.

Place and Change of Place
Measure and Shape
Living Things
Natural Phenomena
Behavior and the Will
Language
Human Society and Institutions

I've got the 7th edition. This is an excellent language resource once you learn how to use it. First, learn how to use the categories in the beginning of the book. If you want my opinion, Roget's Thesaurus and The Synonym Finder are two completely different but equally indispensable resources if words are your profession (if you're a writer, journalist, translator, etc.). I use both of them plus the Oxford Synonyms and the Oxford American Writer's Thesaurus. Also, I ordered it online from outside the U.S., and Amazon delivered it even faster than promised, which was quite a nice surprise. Thanks

Terrific edition -- but wish it had a smaller footprint or be available as an e-book

Kipfer, the editor of this edition of the Thesaurus, is to be congratulated on putting together a terrific update to this title. I've been using the fourth edition since sometime after it first came out, which is to say the edition just prior to the HarperCollins take over of the title in 1992, and it has served me very well---in particular, it's handy size (6" x 9") that fits comfortably in the hand despite its girth. One can't quite say that about this new 7th edition, for it's approximately 7.5" x 9.5" and printed on heavier paper stock making it 25% thicker and perhaps as much as double the weight of the version I was using. And this newest edition has only half as many thumb indexes as does the fourth edition. But all that is styling. As for the content, this new edition is very good. What I'd really like is an e-book!

David Vance has enjoyed a successful career photographing advertising and editorial assignments for more than forty years. His work has been published in Cosmopolitan, Entertainment Weekly, Interview, Health, Rolling Stone, Tennis, Uomo, and Harper's Bazaar, Italia. Exotic, Erotic, Ephemeral...with a searing after burn!

David Vance is known to every lover of fine art photography. His list of monographs is rather astonishing - EROTIC DREAMS, HEAVENLY BODIES, TIMELESS, ATTRACTIONS PHOTOGRAPHS, VISIONS, THE ULTIMATE BOOK OF NUDES, THE WOODS - it is unlikely that there is any lover of great photography who doesn't won at least one of these. But even the most avid lover of David Vance's work will be astonished by this most recent volume - JUNGLE FEVER. The quality of models (always a plus with Vance's curatorial eye), the selection of a theme that is one to which all can identify is carried through with every image, and the creativity in finding accoutrements from the jungle habitat to serve as props to enhance the composition of these brilliant photographs is a pinnacle for Vance.

These richly color saturated images are of nude men who are perfect examples of masculine culture who are placed in context with the jungle them in ways so imaginative that they defy description. Palm fronds, lacerated leaves, wreaths of twisted branches, and actual jungle settings provide the atmosphere that displays the beauty of the men with lighting that embraces every object and model with steamy eroticism. Some of the models are painted with tribal insignias and elements of garb that suggest primal origins. Other images focus on men who are obviously gifted athletes - suspended in air on a single bamboo pole or pose with various forms of waterfalls.

The images are obviously carefully posed in order to gain the most sophisticated 'natural painting', but unlike other photographers who elect to stage poses Vance keeps his models focused on the message of the book - Jungle Fever. The first look at the book will doubtless be one of arousal, the second one of wonder at Vance's technical and artistic skill, and the third - well, call it unforgettable after burn. Juicy!

Juicy!Juicy!Juicy! David Vance's new book "Jungle Fever" is hotter and more beautiful than anything he's done yet. His models are great-looking (as they always are) and his photography superb (as it always is) but he's got these guys all stripped down in natural settings and it's his sexiest. Lots of full frontal and they are...up! You are going to love it. Get it.

Stunning, a true vision

When I held a promotional copy of this book in order to write the introduction for David, I could only imagine how spectacular it would be to hold the book in its full printing. Now, I am thrilled beyong my highest expectations. This new book by David Vance is the last word in coffee table photography books. It sits on mine, and I find myself going back to it, every time i'm in the room.I am never disappointed.

That David is the best of the best, goes without saying..that he is an artist's artist......but, here in Jungle Fever, he tops himself. There really is nothing like this book out there. You'll have to buy it...you must, in order to enjoy its many joys, its artistic vision, its breathtaking sensuality.If you crave, and admire, beauty as do I, this is the book.

There is just one David Vance....he was working well before the others, Bianchi, Ritts, and Weber...and still he's never stopped his imagination, and his ongoing growth, he's as wise as a master, and as young as a colt; forever fascinating......Jungle Fever is a classic, it was already ,even on the printing presses.....and now it's ours.
